FRIDAY 29 MAY Hillarys V Springfield Primary |
On Friday, Springfield arrived at Hillarys Primary for a sunny afternoon of competition. Our soccer boys dominated the visitors, winning 8-1 at Hillarys Park. It was very hard to pick man of the match as all students played strongly as individuals and a team. Sof/crosse was a close competition, but Springfield took the honours with a 3-2 result. Monique and Les were voted best on ground. Netball was an even competition as our Netball B team just beat our opposition 12-11 and Netball A lost 6-9. Mawson Park was the venue for a close footy match with Springfield eventually taking the honours by 5 points. The most obvious thing about all competitions was fair play between Hillarys and Springfield.

FRIDAY 26 JUNE Hillarys V Bambara Primary |
On the last day of the winter carnival, Hillarians won all games at Bambara. The footy boys won by 38 points at Forrest Park. Netball A won 20-8 and Netball B won 17-5. Thanks to Mrs Grove and Miss Nettleton for coaching the netballers throughout term 2. Sofcrosse was not played as Bambara do not have a team, but our team enjoyed a fantastic Sofcrosse Coaching Clinic at Hillarys Park instead. Hillarys soccer team, ‘The Reds’, took a while to settle into their rhythm at Forrest Park, but when they did they took control of the match. A fine hat-trick by Elliot was embellished by superb performances from Sam, Aleksandar and Darren. “The Reds” eventually won 7-1, finishing of a successful season. Thanks to our captain and assistant coach, Connor, for his hard work throughout the term. |
